Melodie Ureten

Associate

Melodie Ureten completed her law degree at UBC’s Allard Hall.  Her articles at a full-service boutique firm in downtown Vancouver provided her with a range of experience in human rights matters, family law matters, criminal defence cases, immigration applications, residential tenancy matters, and civil litigation before the BC Supreme Court, Provincial Court, Federal Court, and other judicial bodies such as BC Human Rights Tribunal and the Residential Tenancy Branch.  Her experience with family law has been bolstered by her pro bono work at a local family law clinic.

Her practice currently focuses on employment, labour and family law.

With respect to family law, she can assist with desk-order-divorces, child support, spousal support, division of family property and debt, guardianship orders, and parenting arrangements. She has represented clients in BC Supreme Court and before the Provincial Court. She has also settled family disputes by negotiating and drafting separation agreements.

Melodie is passionate about representing unions and not-for-profit societies. She has a background working as a union member in Vancouver’s film and television industry as a production assistant. Her legal practice includes advising clients on governance, policy drafting, and operational matters.

Melodie leads with empathy and compassion, working with a transparent client-centered approach. Expectations are noted from the beginning with the client-lawyer relationship being based on trust and care.
